In last months's Beauty SOS (here), I asked for you lovely people to call upon your vast experience with beauty products and help me out with four beauty emergencies. Let's do a quick recap on what those were, the suggestions I received and whether or not I've had much luck with them, before moving onto this month's beauty nightmares!
I asked you to suggest the following:
1. A good clay face mask
Suggestions included Origins Clear Improvement, Queen Helene Mud Pack Mask and Ren Invisible Pores Detox Mask.
Well, I must admit that I've been trying to stash away some pennies this month, so unfortunately I haven't yet been able to try out all of these suggestions. I did have a look for the Queen Helene mask, but as yet I haven't been able to find it, so if anyone knows where I might be able to get it then please do let me know in the comments below. As for the Ren and Origins masks, I have been wanting to try both for a long while now, but as they don't come cheap Im am holding off on purchasing them until next month. This month, however, I have tried out a couple of other masks, those being the Laura Mercier Clay Mask and the Nourifusion Multivitamin Clarifying Mask, as I was able to get them both for a good price, so I will be popping up reviews of those two in the not too distant future. If you were one of the lovelies who suggested the other masks then please don't think that I have ignored your advice as I genuinely am itching to try them and will be doing so just as soon as my bank balance allows.
2. A moisturising facemask
I was given one suggestion for this, which was Clarins HydraQuench Cream Mask, and I actually did purchase this today, so I'm looking forward to trying that out.
3. Something to banish dry lips once and for all
Some of you suggested coconut oil, and one of you suggested Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Lip Protectant. I'm already a huge fan of coconut oil for various other uses, and I do take a spoonful every day for it's wonderful health benefits, so I was more than happy to slather this yummy-tasting stuff on my lips. I was also given a sample size of just the normal Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Cream this month (review here) so I've been giving that a go, and between the two of them I must say they have left my lips feeling softer, smoother and without any flakiness. Hurrah!
4. An amazing deep-conditioning hair mask
I was recommended Aussie Three-Minute Miracle, which I actually already use, and again, coconut oil.
Now, I had tried coconut oil on my hair once before, and I must admit that it really didn't seem to make much of a difference. But I thought I'd give it another go, since many of you swear by it and, as I mentioned before, I am very much a fan of it for other uses. Well, I'm sorry to say that for whatever reason, it just doesn't work for me. It left my hair feeling limp and slimy despite a couple of good, thorough washes, and after I did eventually manage to get my locks clean they were much the same as they had been before the treatment. My hair seems to be resistant to EVERYTHING I put on it, so I guess there is just no helping me! :(
Now for this month's beauty emergencies. The idea of this series, by the way, is that you can all gain a bit of inspiration from the lovely suggestions left by others in the comments box and perhaps find a solution to a beauty problem of your own, so do pop back and have a look to see what ideas other bloggers have got, and let me know if any of them work for you.
1. A Blemish-Fighting Product.
I keep getting blemishes on my chin of late, since my t-zone has become more oily, so I'm on the hunt for something that'll clear the little blighters up quick-smart.
2. A Good Volumising Product for Hair
I am after something that will give me big hair without any stickiness or crispiness, be it a shampoo, spray or something else.
I'm just going to stick with those two for this month, as I have already been chatting to some of you on Twitter about a couple of other things and received some great suggestions for those. I will be sure to include the details in next month's Beauty SOS, along with my verdict on the suggestions I receive for these two, and I will also strive to get my hands on those facemasks from last month and try them out!
If you have any ideas for this month's SOS issues then do please leave a comment below with the deets.
Hope everyone has a great week!
xx
For the hair volume product I fully recommend the Umberto Gianni (sp?) Backcomb in a Bottle, it's amazing. You just spray it in and tousle your hair with your fingers and our hair is so much bigger :) x
ReplyDeleteGlad you mentioned this, I saw this comment this morning and realised I actually had a bottle of that that I'd forgotten all about! I used it today and it certainly did the job!Unfortunately though, it does leave my hair feeling in need of a good wash by the time I finish work, but then I'm yet to find a product that doesn't!xx
DeleteFor the spots go for origins super spot remover. I did a review on my blog. For volume deffo try batiste XL dry shampoo. Hope that helps!!

Ooh, everyone is raving about the Origins spot treatments at the moment, think I'm going to have to give them a go! I hope they live up to the hype. I love Batiste dry shampoos but I haven't tried the XXL one yet, will pop that on my shopping list :)xx
DeleteI'd also recommend the Origins Super Spot Remover works amazingly well! If you don't fancy paying that much I'd give the Soap & Glory Dr. Spot, which works quite well.

Thanks, I really do want to try the Origins treatment but I am definitelyall for trying a cheaper alternative first at the moment. Thanks for the tip lovely :)xx
DeleteFor a hydrating hair mask i recommend olive oil or argan oil as well!
ReplyDeleteFor the spots I recommend african black soap. It's all natural and it's used a lot against acne and it makes blemishes disappear. I'm not sure when you can buy it, but usually at some foreign shop or and all natural store. Hope I've helped :)
X
I shall certainly try those oils, although I must admit I was a little put off after not being able to get the coconut oil out of my hair very easily! Still, I will have to persevere, as oils do seem to be the way forward according to most.
DeleteThat soap sounds interesting, I will see if I can find it.xx
If you're wanting to save a few pennies and wanting to get rid of spots ASAP then get Quinoderm - it's made especially for acne however I use it for whenever I have a breakout. You can really notice a difference within a few hours - however only apply a pin heads amount as too much can burn your face xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimiiee, I would really rather go for something cheap so this might be a good shout. I don't get acne, just the odd breakout like you. Thanks for the idea :)xx
DeleteThankyou so much for your comment! I have been completely lacking in motivation recently and worrying far too much about what others may think of my blog but when I saw you had take the time to comment asking where I had been I realised how silly I was being...my blog is just for fun I neednt take it so seriously! :) so I shall be blogging more again!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Hope you are good!

You're welcome hun, glad to see you're finally back on the scene! You definitely shouldn't worry what people think, I did too in the beginning but now I've realised that no one else does, so why should I? Plus, no one you know in real life has to be made aware of it if you don't want them to, and almost every blogger I've met so far has been absolutely lovely. Just be proud of your blog and never forget that you're doing it for enjoyment and hopefully that'll keep you wanting to post more :)xx
DeleteFor when the spots appear the Origins super spot remover is great, I reviewed it today. Also the lush toner in a breath of fresh air is great to spritz throughout the day as well as in the morning and night to calm the oilyness. Also try the macadamia oil deep repair mask for your hair. A sample can be picked up from ebay for 6.50 ish for two 30ml samples I find this does four masks for me and is truely amazing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Macadamia-Deep-Repair-Mask-2-x-30ml-Sachet-/110931931881?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Hair_Care_Shampoo_Conditioner_PP&hash=item19d40ef2e9#ht_500wt_993 the oil is great too

A couple of people have mentioned the Origins product and I keep seeing blog posts raving about it, so I will most definitely be looking into that (although shame it's so pricey!).I really want to try that Macadamia mask too so those samples sound like a great option, thanks!
DeleteI love spray toners for warm days and I am actually using a peppermint one by Suti at the moment, which does seem to be helping clear up my skin. xx
Great tips! My lips get really dry, must try the coconut oil!
ReplyDeletexx
Yeah, multi-use products are always worth investing in xx
DeleteThis is a really good idea for a post, sharing recommendations if different products for different problems is useful for everyone. I'm off to get som coconut oil now!
ReplyDeleterachael @ madeupoflittlethings xx
Thanks Rachael :) Glad you enjoyed it, I do this every month xx
DeleteFor volume I use sexy hair powder play and it works a treat!
ReplyDeleteFor spots I'd have to agree with the origins super spot remover, but in combination with the alpha h liquid gold - a dream team x
