I'm usually more of a Mac or Topshop girl when it comes to lipsticks, but a month or two ago I was browsing a bit more locally, in search of the perfect Spring peach lipstick, when I stumbled upon the Maybelline Moisture Extreme Matte Lipstick in the shade Peach Play. Obviously with Maybelline's reasonable prices I didn't hesitate to pick it up, and having already tried and enjoyed one of the normal Moisture Extreme formulations in Sugar Plum (a lovely warm nude) I was intrigued to see how this one would measure up.
From the very first application it was love. Although I'd originally been after more of a pastel, nudey peach, the moment I swiped this on my lips I knew that it would become one of my most reached for lipsticks as we head into Spring and Summer. It's a bright, vibrant peach, quite orange but with a hint of pinky red which makes it far more wearable for those of you with paler skin, or anyone who is a little bit nervous about going for anything too full-on. It's just such a flattering colour and really warms up my face when I have it on. It makes me think of juicy fruit and refreshing summery cocktails, and in my eyes that can only be a good thing!
Wear-wise, it definitely stays put a bit longer than the normal formulation, and was still going strong after I'd had my morning cuppa today. Obviously it does start to fade a bit more if you're a constant water-guzzler like me, but it does so pretty evenly so you're not left with any patchiness. Saying that, being matte it's not the most forgiving when it comes to dry patches on the lips, so a good exfoliation beforehand is definitely in order.
Over all, a really lovely lip colour that's perfect for sunny days, and one that has firmly secured it's place in my makeup bag.
What are your must-haves lip products for Spring?
xx
I've been looking for a good, orange-y lipstick! I think it'd be perfect for the days when I feel like throwing my hair up in a bun and forgetting about the rest of my makeup (except for a bright lipstick), you know?
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to pick up MAC's Morange, but I've read that it's a matte lipstick, and I've had bad experiences with their matte lipsticks in the past :(
Might have to give this bad boy a try!
Hope all is well, lovely :)

I've had my eye on Morange too, but when I was in-store the other day I realised it was almost exactly the same shade as Topshop Infrared, which I've already got, so I put it back and got Coral Bliss, which is a really gorgeous spring shade xx
DeleteI really like the colour of this, not sure how it would look on me though!
ReplyDeleteNice post - i've just given you a follow :) x

DeleteThat's a gorgeous colour Mel - I love orange-toned lippies! Will have to have a look at these next time I'm in Boots - really good price! Have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you decide to go for one xx
DeleteThis looks like a really nice colour! My favourite spring lip colours are Revlon Lip Butter in Tuttit Frutti and Sleek Lipstick in Papaya Punch.
ReplyDeleteTutti Frutti is one I've always meant to pick up but never have, mainly bevcause I got the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous, which I think is pretty similar - such a lovely, wearable day-to-day orange xx
DeleteSuch a beautiful summery shade! Have you tried maybelline colour sensational vivid lipsticks? i'm currently obsessed over the 'shocking coral ' shade, since I picked it up last week I can't stop wearing it!
